Dear Editor,
With reference to your Education and Living issue of March 26th, and specifically an article by Justin Comiskey headed "The business of accounting for taste", I was rather surprised and indeed disappointed that Griffith College was not mentioned whatsoever in the article.
The article suggests students should follow courses that prepare them for the examinations of the principal accountancy studies and that business studies students should seek NCEA accredited courses. We accept and agree with those recommendations.
However, as the only college in Ireland providing courses leading to the examinations of all four professional accountancy bodies (ACA, ACCA, CIMA and CPA) and given that we have been established since 1974, it seems remarkable that we were not mentioned. When you consider that our national certificate and degree courses in business studies are both accredited by the NCEA, our exclusion seems even more remarkable.
Yours, Griffith College Dublin, South Circular Road, Dublin 8.
