‘We’ve only just started back so this week is all about preparation for all the big projects we’ll be involved with over the next year. This week, we have to figure out who’s doing what in the AIB Build a Bank Challenge. Six TY students will take major roles in the bank. I’d like to be CEO and run everything. I like being in charge.
“We also have the music competition Blastbeat coming up. I don’t play an instrument but I’ll be starting guitar lessons this week as part of TY.
“Then there’s the musical. It’s a very big deal in our school. We run it with the girls’ school nearby. It’s a brilliant buzz every year. Auditions began this week. I’m going to try out as one of the singers but there are lots of other ‘behind the scenes’ roles that need people also.
“There’s also a huge physical education programme in TY. This week we’re starting swimming and self-defence lessons in kickboxing.
We’re also going to be organising events for first-years, such as athletics events. We haven’t decided yet whether we’ll make their sports day a serious or fun event. Hopefully it can be both.”
