The triangular slave route which connected Africa, Europe and the Carribean/North America from the 16th to the 19th centuries is the subject of a new project being launched by the United Nations Education Sector's Associated Schools Unit.
The project will aim to help young people from Africa, Europe, the Americas and Carribean to become aware of the impact and implications for the future as well as the past of the transatlantic slave trade. There has also been a call for naming August 23rd as an international day for the remembrance of the slave trade and its abolition.
