THE MICHAEL Smurfit Graduate School of Business at UCD will hold an open day for prospective students on tomorrow, April 17th, at its Blackrock campus.

The formal proceedings begin at 3.30 p.m., with a presentation on the diploma in entrepreneurial studies followed at 4 p.m. by a session on the diploma in business studies.

The presentation on the master's in management science begins at 4.30 p.m. followed by the Master's in business studies at 4.45 p.m. Presentations on the diploma in marketing practice and the Master's in accounting both begin at 5.30 p.m.

A courtesy coach shuttle will travel from Belfield (behind the Bank of Ireland) to the Smurfit Business School beginning at 3.15 p.m. and the last coach will return to Belfield at 6.15 p.m. Refreshments will be served throughout the day and further information is available from (01) 706 8934 or email opendayblackrock.ucd.ie

If home decorating is on your Spring agenda then the courses run by the Decorative Arts Centre in Great Strand Street, Dublin, may be of interest.

Between now and June there will be courses on interior design, stencilling, paint effects, fabric painting, paper (including decoupage), papier mache and bargain furniture restoration.

The cost of a one day workshop is £50 including lunch and there is a 10 per cent discount for anyone booking more than one course and a 20 per cent discount for students, OAPs and social welfare recipients.

On May 11th and June 8th the centre will run a workshop on Feng Shui which is the traditional Chinese art of laying out interiors to harmonise the inner self, to heal and to promote a better life.
