A wide choice of courses is on offer at PLC level. A number of courses around the State are catering for students who want to specialise in a particular type of music.

Ballyfermot Rock School in Dublin offers a one-year course in rock performance and management, multi-media production and studio recording. Colaiste Dhulaigh, Dublin, also has a range of courses in areas connected with music. There are PLC courses at Colaiste Stiofain Naofa, Cork, in music, management and sound.

For students who have just finished the Leaving Cert and are not quite ready to start on a degree course, the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama has a one-year music foundation course which can be very useful for students who want to improve certain skills in preparation for a full-time degree or diploma course in music.

The choice of degree courses in the college includes a diploma in music teaching (instrumental/vocal). This is caters for prospective instrumental or vocal teachers, who will be teaching perhaps on a one-to-one basis.
