UCD UniLife Summer School
This summer UCD is hosting the UCD UniLife Summer School from June 8th to 11th. The programme is aimed at secondary school students just finishing fifth year who know what discipline they want to pursue at university. Students get an intensive immersion in a particular programme area or subject. They also get the opportunity to live on campus for a couple of days. Apply at www.ucd.ie/myucd/unilife.

Internet Lecture at UCC
“The Internet, Web 2.0 and Surveillance” is the title of a talk by Prof Christian Fuchs (University of Strasbourg) on Thursday, May 13th at 5pm in UCC Boole 3 Lecture Theatre. The talk will discuss foundations of surveillance and privacy on the Internet. All are welcome.
Open Days for Aspiring Jockeys
The Racing Academy and Centre of Education (Race) in Kildare is holding open days each Tuesday in May – today, 18th and 25th – starting at 2pm for students, parents and guidance counsellors. Practical Advice for Parents at Exam Time
Parents of Leaving Cert and Junior Cert students are invited to a free public talk hosted by Atlantic College (top floor Fairgreen House, Galway) today at 7pm. Free Leaving Certificate Biology Podcast
The science department of St Columba’s College, Dublin has produced a free podcast for pupils preparing for the Leaving Cert biology exam this June. The podcast offers tips and advice on exam technique, exam content and the marking process. Similar podcasts will be available over the coming weeks on Leaving Cert chemistry, physics and agricultural science. Also, there will be revision podcasts on particular topics within the Leaving Cert science subjects. The podcasts are available at www.frogblog.ie or under “The Frog Blog” in iTunes.
