I first started using a computer in June this year, as I wanted to send e-mails to my daughter in Canada and my son in South America. I found it quite simple to do and I have been sending e-mails every two or three days for the past few months.
It's much cheaper than the telephone, which costs £1.75 a minute to South America. An e-mail is charged as a local call.
I started a computer course this September as I wanted to learn more computers and the web. The course "Basic Computing for Over 60s", is run by Navan VEC. For £10, we get 10 morning's tuition as well as coffee and biscuits.
I'm not confident about using the web yet. I did look up Ellis Island as my mother emigrated to New York.
I'm a keen gardener and I hope to start finding seed catalogues online as I like to grow unusual flowers.
