THE DUBLIN branch of the Irish Mathematics Teachers' Association has organised a series of 17 one-hour lectures for maths teachers on the more challenging aspects of Leaving Cert higher-level syllabus.

The lectures, over nine evenings, start this Thursday at St Andrew's College, Booterstown Avenue Dublin, at 7.15 pm. Details from Dermot Cook (tel (01) 283 0591, 7 to 9 p.m.) or George Humphrey (tel (01) 833 5906, 8 to 9 p.m.).

And for teachers elsewhere in the State, the Mathematics Teachers' Association wants to remind teachers of Team Math `96, the maths table quiz, which will be held on February 9th. Last year, 600 Leaving Cert students took part in the quiz.
