KING'S INNS last week achieved the highest score so far in the first televised rounds of Challenging Times, the Irish Times/RTE third level quiz competition.
The Inns' unlucky opponents were Sligo RTC who, despite the 195-80 scoreline, put up a good fight against the barristers of the future.
The Inns team of Mark O'Mahony, Daniel Donnelly Mark Harty and sub Gareth Fleming now join Cork RTC and DCU in the next round.
Sligo RTC, represented by Chris MacManus, Leonard Kelly, Liam Rabbitte and sub Claire Lynch, will have to wait for next year's competition to get their own back.
This week the College of Surgeons, competing in the competition for the first time, take on UCC, who have won Challenging Times twice in previous years.
The quiz is shown on RTE 1 at 8.30 p.m. each Wednesday and the question master is the multi jacketed Kevin Myers.
