THE DUBLIN Institute of Technology's School of Accountancy and Business Studies at Aungier Street offers students a number of courses in accountancy. The Diploma in Advanced Business Studies is a four year full time course which provides a combination of general and specialised education for business professional Accountancy Financial is also available at the School of Accountancy and Business Studies at the DIT in Aungier Street. The course is open to Leaving Cert students who have five subjects, three of which must be Grade C3 or higher on higher level papers.
On completing this course students may continue their studies in the college on a part time basis, in order to qualify as professional accountants while working as trainee accountants bin private practice, industry or commerce. The course is designed to prepare students for the foundation and certificate examinations of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.
A Certified Accountant works in a wide range of areas including public practice, banking, industry and commerce and all parts of the financial service sector. ACCA is the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. A third of the ACCA's members work in public practice.
The training of the Certified Accountant is flexible and broad, and it equips graduates to enter a variety of business/financial environments. The training period for graduates is three years.
Professional Accountancy Management is another course on offer at the School of Accountancy and Business Studies, DIT. This is a three year full time course and it is designed to prepare students for Stage 1, 2 and 3 examinations of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. It provides students with a comprehensive education in accountancy. Those who complete the course may continue their studies in the college on a part time basis while they work as trainee management accountants. The college keeps a register of approved firms with vacancies for trainees.
The School of Accountancy and Business Studies at Aungier Street also has a one year full time course, which is part of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland's programme. This course prepares students for the Professional 11 examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
