With the numbers of mature students on the increase all the time, several colleges are now running information evenings on courses aimed at older students. This Thursday St Patrick's College, Drumcondra, will have an open day for mature students from 3.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. The programme on offer is a BA in Humanities and there will be presentations on the course at 3.30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. with college tours at 4 p.m., 5.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Staff members and current mature students will be on hand to answer questions.
The BA in Humanities is offered with a choice of nine subjects including the more usual ones such as English, Irish, history, geography, French and maths but also with options in human development, music and religion.
Dublin City University is holding an information evening for mature students tomorrow week, March 19th, between 6 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. Potential students will have the opportunity to discuss degree programmes as well as career matters, financial issues and admission procedures.
THE post-graduate students at UCD's Drama Studies centre will take to the boards on Thursday for three nights with the Irish premiere of Most Monday Mornings by Kelly Younger. This is a modern adaptation of Sophocles's Trachiniai, the story of a fated marriage and a fragile family which disintegrates in one day. The drama will be performed in the Memorial Theatre of UCD's campus on Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock, at 8 p.m. Further information is available from (01) 706 8049.
