THE Fresh Film Festival's annual showcase gets under way in Limerick tomorrow with screenings of a selection of the best and most bizarre work of young film-makers. On show will be the likes of The Jock Club and Mellon Collie Death of Eugene Nerdingersic!), "a homage to Tarrantinoesque violence" and is made by students of Terenure College. Showing too will be Midnight Feast from Gareth Fisher, about odd happenings when the lights go out and everyone's gone to bed.
All of this is in advance of Fresh 2001, to be held in Limerick in March. The main event of the Fresh Film Festival is the Irish Schools Video Competition, entry forms for which are available from arts and film centres, or directly from the Fresh office, Belltable Arts Centre, 69 O'Connell Street, Limerick (tel: (061) 319555). Bookings for the showcase can be made through the Irish Film Centre at (01) 679 5744.
