English teachers, particularly in the Cork area, will benefit from the upcoming Cork Film Festival, which features a hefty education programme again this year. The festival will run a number of workshops for teachers and pupils as part of its programme.

On Thursday, October 14th, there will be a workshop on film in the primary school curriculum with Alicia MacGivern from the education department of the Film Institute of Ireland. The focus of this will concentration on an exploration of the role of film studies in the classroom. On Friday, October 15th, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. there will be a screening of " My Left Foot and a discussion entitled Film Studies: the new curriculum at work".
