NUI Maynooth, the Kilkenny Education Centre and the Irish Association of Pastoral Care in Education are in the throes of planning a year long part-time certificate in school pastoral care.
This course would be suitable for those in significant pastoral-care roles, such as year heads, guidance counsellors and co-ordinators of social, personal and health education. Staying in Kilkenny, NUI Maynooth offers a number of courses at an outreach centre in St Kieran's College.
Courses available include a BA in local and community studies, a certificate in training (special needs), a higher diploma in application of higher technology in schools and most recently, a new course in community and youth work.

A group of student volunteers will be on hand to explain and guide older people on to the information superhighway. If you can't make it this week, the students will be back each Friday until May 28th.
