The Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) is preparing to host an arts festival, which will run for 10 days from next Thursday, November 12th. The 6th Cork Arts Festival will feature visual arts, music, poetry, drama and dance and will look at "the points of intersection" between technology and art.

The festival is taking a particular look at the use of the computer as a creative tool and aims to explore "the imaginative ways in which artists have responded to the challenge of new technologies".

Events planned include performances from Steve Earle, Liam O'Flynn and the Piper's Call Band, Kieran Goss and dancers from the Irish Modern Dance Theatre. The first Saturday of the festival will be "Rory Gallagher Day", featuring a memorial lecture and multimedia concert. A series of newly-written plays will be performed by local theatre groups in the CIT throughout the week.
