FILM EDUCATION, a British-based charity, is inviting teachers and their students in Britain and Ireland to free screenings of a number of children's films. National Schools' Film Week (October 7th to October 11th) will mark Film Education's 10th birthday.
There will be also be free teaching materials available which illustrate all the themes and subject areas covered in the programme. The media workpacks, written by teachers for teachers, contain notes, worksheets and activities.

Screenings are as follows: Monday, October 7th, 10 a.m., Roald Dahl's Matilda (preview); Tuesday, October 8th, 9.45 a.m., Alaska (preview); 10 a.m., Dragonheart (preview); Wednesday, October 9th, 10 a.m., The Adventures of Pinocchio (preview); Thursday, October 10th, 10 a.m., Wind in the Willows ("costume screening" - pupils should attend dressed as their favourite riverbank character); Friday, October 11th, 10 a.m., Much Ado About Nothing.
Also, on Thursay, October 10th, there will be a free screening of Jack at UCI Tallaght, Dublin, and at Cork Opera House. This will be followed by a workshop which will explore themes within the film. The screening and workshop is suitable for all students of English and media studies, aged 12 to 16 years, according to Buena Vista International and Film Education, which are hosting the screening.
