THE ROLE of career information in decision making and the management and dissemination of this information will be central to an in-service day for career guidance counsellors to be held in the Regency Hotel, Airport Road, Dublin, on May 24th.
Eithne Fitzgerald, Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise and Employment, will give the opening address. Dr Gerry Hughes, senior research officer with the ESRI, will speak about occupational forecasting and its role in career guidance. Owen Casey, of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, Cork, will also speak.
The Department of Education will allow guidance counsellors a day's absence from their schools, but the arrangement does not extend to the provision of substitution.
