THE RDS's annual youth science and arts week for 14- to 17-year-olds will take place from July 7th to July 12th. Activities include talks and visits, practical workshops in journalism, dance, drama, sound, sports, discos, debates and quizzes. The emphasis will be on fun and participation. The number of places is restricted to 250. The cost is £55 to cover all activities if paid before June 9th (accommodation and meals not included); £115 covers all activities and accommodation (meals not included). After June 9th the price increases by £10.
THE Racing Apprentice Centre of Education will hold its final open day for this school year on May 21st from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. RACE offers a 42-week residential course comprising three 14-week terms. There are age and weight requirements. Application forms are accepted between March and June each year. All course graduates have obtained employment for the past 23 years. THE arrival of two new golden lion tamarins at Dublin Zoo has coincided with the launch of a new CD-ROM. (The monkeys have been named CD and ROM.) It contains information on all of Dublin Zoo's animals and is illustrated with photographs and video clips. It also contains general information on the zoo, with particular reference to the education facilities. It costs £19.99 - contact Michelle Griffin, the zoo's education officer.
