THE PROCESS of choosing a successor to Frank Murray as general secretary of the Association of Community and Comprehensive Schools is drawing to a close. The second round of interviews was held yesterday; a decision is expected this week.
It is likely that his successor may, like Murray, be a school principal. He has moved to the new commission to oversee the amalgamation of schools and rationalise the VEC system; thus his name is not mooted for the other top job in education: general secretary of the Association for the Management of Catholic Secondary Schools, which falls vacant later this year with the retirement of Brother Declan Duffy.
Some of the applicants for the ACCS job may also be interested in this post. The AMCSS job was advertised last year, but it was not filled.
