THE daughter of cabaret star Dickie Rock described being involved with ecstasy tablets as a "big mistake" after being ordered to pay £250 to a court poor box yesterday.
Sarah Jane Rock (20), of Temple Gardens, Rathmines, Dublin, was charged with being in possession of the ecstasy for the purpose of supplying to others on September 29th, 1995. The drugs were seized during a Garda raid at the UFO club on Sir John Rogerson's Quay.
She was remanded to appear in court yesterday for a Probation Service Report which was described by the judge as "very favourable".
Miss Rock remained silent as her solicitor, Mr Garrett Sheehan, told the court his client's offence had been at the lower end of the scale in drug offences.
Judge William Earley heard the defendant was out of work but was hopeful of finding employment in the near future. The court heard she had no previous convictions. Judge Earley told Dublin District Court he would remand Rock to December 18th next for the payment of £250 to the court's poor box and for a further probation report to be compiled on her.
He said that if the new report was "favourable" and the defendant did not come to the attention of the Garda in that time he would give her the benefit of the Probation Act.
Speaking to reporters outside the court Sarah Jane Rock said: "It was a big mistake and I just want to put it all behind me now. I am going to get on with my life".
She said she was "very happy" with the result of the case.
