An Australian citizen living in Northern Ireland was allegedly involved in an international drug trafficking racket, a court heard yesterday.

The claim was made by Insp Larry Cheshire, of the RUC Drugs Squad, when he objected to bail for Mr James McCullough (30), of Ballyfore Road, Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, who is charged with exporting ecstasy tablets to Australia.

Mr Billy McNulty, defending solicitor, said Mr McCullough would be contesting the charges.

The Resident Magistrate, Mr John Clery, remanded Mr McCullough in custody until June 3rd.
