KRISHNA AND Buddha may not have figured before in tales of St Patrick, but that hasn’t deterred a Galway theatre company.
As if in a metaphor for our times, the Blue Teapot Theatre Company aims to tell the story of how two eastern gods made an historic visit to the west in the company of a “fiery dragon”.
The dragon was a gift for St Patrick, and aimed to help him chase snakes from the island’s shores. Blue Teapot, a professional company for people with learning disabilities, aims to depict this tempting scenario during this year’s parade in Galway city.
Entitled “From the East to the West”, the parade entry was conceived for Blue Teapot by Rod Goodall. He has previously directed Macnas for the Galway Arts Festival and has been involved with U2’s Zooropa tour.
The Galway Lions Club is supporting the Blue Teapot entry for the St Patrick’s Day festival on March 17th, which has taken the theme “World of Wonder”.
