Around 5,000 people turned out in Dublin's city centre today for ceremonies to mark the 1916 Easter Rising.
President Mary McAleese, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and Northern Ireland Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness will attend the commemoration service outside the GPO on O'Connell Street.
Around 300 members of the Defence Forces will take part in the ceremony which began at noon.
The event is on a much smaller scale to the 90 thanniversary and military parade two years ago.
