Journalist Mr Eamon Dunphy, who appeared in court on a drink-driving charge yesterday morning, has had his case adjourned until April.

Mr Dunphy was called before Judge James Scally at Dublin District Court yesterday. Garda Paul Kane, of Pearse Street Garda station, told the court Mr Dunphy had been arrested on Sunday, October 28th, at 5.35a.m. in Camden Street, Dublin.

Mr Dunphy was taken to Pearse Street Garda station, where he was charged. After a caution, he replied: "It's not true," the garda said.

The judge said Mr Dunphy should be remanded on continuing bail until April 8th.

Mr Dunphy was tested using a device known as the intoxilyzer, which measures alcohol levels in breath. The equipment is being challenged in the High Court in a case unconnected with Mr Dunphy's. Other drink-driving cases are being adjourned pending the outcome of the High Court proceedings.
