Dunlop apologises to lawyers

Mr Frank Dunlop apologised to his legal team at the beginning of yesterday's proceedings.

He asked counsel for the tribunal if he could apologise to his legal team of Mr Colm Allen SC, Mr Senan Allen and Mr Hugh Garvey, a solicitor.

His apology referred to the dramatic turn his evidence took on the last day he testified and his revelation that day of a number of payments he had made to councillors to influence their votes on planning matters.

"I want to make it absolutely clear that at no time prior to Wednesday, April 19th, had I disclosed to any member of my legal team any of the matters on which I have now given evidence. "I wish to apologise publicly to them for the difficult situation in which I have placed them."
