TWO LIMERICK brothers who are charged with threatening to kill a mother, and her daughter and son, have been further remanded in custody at Limerick District Court.
John Dundon appeared before the court via video link from Cloverhill Prison, Dublin, to make an application for bail which was refused by Judge Tom O’Donnell.
The 29 year old, with an address at Hyde Road, Limerick, is charged with threatening to kill a mother and her daughter at an address at Ballinacurra Weston during two separate incidents on the weekend of April 3rd and 4th last.
Shane O’Callaghan, for John Dundon, questioned the credibility of the alleged injured party during the bail application.
Judge O’Donnell said the concerns about “the propriety of the person making the allegations” is a matter that can be dealt with if the case is sent forward for trial.
Mr O’Callaghan said since there was one witness in the case, there was no reason why the statutory 42 days for service of the book of evidence should be breached.
Remanding John Dundon in custody until May 11th, Judge O’Donnell told Insp Séamus Nolan of Henry Street Garda station that he wanted every effort made to have the DPP’s directions canvassed on the matter.
The court was also told that the file in the case against Wayne Dundon (33), of Lenihan Avenue, Limerick, was at an advanced stage.
Mr Dundon gave his name as Wayne Dundon McCarthy when he appeared in court via video link from Portlaoise Prison.
He is charged with threatening to kill a man at an address in Limerick city on September 30th, last year.
The defence consented to a two-week adjournment, and Mr O’Callaghan again said there was no reason why the book of evidence should not be ready for Wayne Dundon’s next court appearance given that there are two witnesses in the case.
Wayne Dundon was further remanded in custody and is due before the court again via video link on May 11th.
