A Dundalk-based company is to create 150 jobs over the next three years.

A Dundalk-based company is to create 150 jobs over the next three years.

Smarthomes provides centrally located cabelling systems for new homes and currently employs 50 people in the Louth town.

Its solutions allow the use of telephones, broadband, and televisions in all rooms in the house. New homes are often retro-fitted with the systems by service providers such as Eircoma and Sky.

General manager John Maguire said a mixture of positions would be created, including installation technicians, engineers, project managers, and sales and administration staff. Some R&D jobs will also be created, he added.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said the €10 million investment by Smarthomes "confirms the continued economic growth of Dundalk and Louth.

"The success of Smarthomes, and of other Irish entrepreneurial companies, is a foundation stone of Ireland's remarkable economic performance over the last 10 years," Mr Ahern added.
