A new seafront apartment development in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin, sold out within hours yesterday netting €53 million for its developers.
Buyers keen to get an apartment at Harbour View started queuing late on Wednesday night. More than 50 people had formed a line outside the estate agents in Dún Laoghaire by 7 a.m. yesterday.
Although the selling agents (Sherry FitzGerald and Lisney) had intended taking orders for just 50 apartments yesterday, the demand was so strong that they sold all 118 apartments off plans. The scheme, located beside the town hall and opposite Dún Laoghaire marina and the town's DART station, is the first major development to be built on the seafront since the popular Pavilion four years ago. Purchasers snapped up one-bed ground floor apartments for €290,000. Other one-beds sold for €320,000. Two-bed apartments sold for €390,000 plus and other buyers paid between €650,000 and €1.25 million for three bed penthouses.
The scheme, a joint venture between development companies Bennett and Earlsfort, will be ready for occupation in autumn 2006 and was launched through The Irish Times Property Supplement yesterday.
