A truck driver who was offered £6,000 by a major criminal organisation to bring £150,000 worth of stolen computer software to England has been remanded in custody for sentence by Judge Cyril Kelly.

John Kelly (32), of St Mark's Avenue, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to handling the property on January 28th, 1997. He was remanded in custody for sentence on February 18th, 1999.

Det Garda John Moloney told prosecuting counsel, Ms Melanie Greally, the software was being sent by Creative Laboratories for recycling in Manchester. The property was in a container which was stolen from Dublin Port.

Kelly was apprehended with the software in another container while about to board a ferry. He made a full statement indicating he had been approached by someone who offered him money to drive the second container.
