Dublin's shops are showing a new form of enterprise in leaving their windows dressed and brilliantly illuminated at night. A few years ago the principal streets showed dreary rows of shutters after the business premises were closed for the evening, but now the streets are bright and gay, with groups of people admiring the window displays. This idea came originally from America, where the New York shopkeepers were quick to realise that hundreds of people, who were busy all day, had only leisure to see the shop windows at night. Now that business people in Dublin have taken up the practice, the nocturnal appearance of the city has undergone a change for the better.
