A VERDICT is expected today in the trial of two Dublin men charged with the murder of a Co Tipperary farmer.

A VERDICT is expected today in the trial of two Dublin men charged with the murder of a Co Tipperary farmer.

Mr Ivor Sweetman (46), from Bawnlea Green in Tallaght, and Mr Francis Palmer (26), from Foxborough, Lucan, have pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Danny Fanning (71), at his home at Stephenstown, Rosegreen, Cashel, Co Tipperary, on February 6th last year.

Both men have also denied having a shotgun with intent to commit robbery at the farm, having the gun with intent to endanger life or to cause serious injury or to enable another person to do so.

The 14 day trial has heard that Mr Fanning died after he was shot in the leg by a gang of armed and masked men who broke into his home on that date and tied up his wife Brigid and youngest daughter Rosaleen.
