A Dublin man will be sentenced later for his role in a business importing so-called designer drugs.
Michael Leahy (30) of Brady Road, Foxrock, was caught with €35,000 worth of an illegal substance known as MEC, which is similar in its effects to amphetamines.
He was also caught with €1,772 worth of the head-shop drug mephedrone.
Judge Mary Ellen Ring said designer drugs had become more prevalent and would represent a significant challenge to gardaí because of their profitability.

Leahy pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to unlawfully importing a psychoactive substance for human consumption. Judge Ring remanded him on bail until sentencing in February.
