Detective Gardai are treating as murder the death of 23-year-old Francis Moore, an unemployed man found dead outside his flat at Coultry Road in Ballymun, Dublin, at 3.30 a.m. yesterday.
Garda discovered the body with stab wounds outside his third-floor flat after receiving a tip-off. The weapon believed to have been used to kill Mr Moore was found in the general vicinity.
Detective Supt Joe McGraraty, who is heading the investigation, has appealed to the public for information. The Garda are understood to be following a number of leads but it has yet to be established if Mr Moore was killed in his flat and carried outside.
The assistant state pathologist Dr Maire Cassidy examined the body yesterday and concluded that Mr Moore died as the result of the stab wounds. He is survived by his partner and their three-year-old daughter, who were visiting relatives at the time.
