The Dublin Chamber of Commerce (DCC) has welcomed the commitment given by the Minister for Finance to the investment programme in the National Development Plan (NDP).
The chamber said the emphasis must now be on setting up project management teams to ensure speedy delivery of the projects.
The DCC also welcomed the provision of €11 million for tourism marketing but expressed severe disappointment about the lack of money for the National Conference Centre.
"The imperative now for Government is to deliver on key infrastructure projects, particularly transport projects," Dublin Chamber Director of Policy Mr Declan Martin said
"The National Development Plan is already behind schedule. At present, there are a number of identified major transport projects for the Greater Dublin Area that need immediate action.
"Government should proceed immediately to establish a critical mass of professional project management resources.
"A first step is the establishment of a fully equipped Project Management Team, reporting to the Cabinet Sub-Committee on infrastructure.
"This team should have overall responsibility for the timing and delivery of major transport projects."
The DCC also urged the Government to twin-track the legislative process and the design and build phases of major projects.
