About 300 people attended a rally in east Belfast last night in support of the Portadown Orangemen's continuing protest at Drumcree. The crowd was addressed by the spokesperson for the Portadown Orange Order, Mr David Jones, and there were calls for Ulster Unionist Party leader, Mr David Trimble, to resign as MP for Upper Bann. Mr Jones criticised east Belfast Orangemen for not attending the rally in greater numbers.

The rally was organised by the Hollywood Arches Civil Liberties Group, which was formed last year after the Orangemen were refused permission to walk down the Garvaghy Road in Portadown.
