Cocaine, cannabis, heroin and prescribed drugs with a total estimated value of €430,000 have been seized by customs officers at Dublin airport this week, it has emerged.

The Revenue Commissioners said tonight that six people have been arrested and charged as a result of the seizures.

In one case, a woman and her son allegedly swallowed pellets of cocaine valued at €52,500.

In another case, a man who arrived on a flight from Paris had allegedly ingested a kilo of cocaine valued at €70,000.

A total of 9kg of herbal cannabis was also seized and a 25-year-old man arrested after he arrived on a flight from Belgium.

Customs officers also said they seized 39,000 valium tablets and arrested a 25-year-old Irish man after luggage from a flight that had landed from Abu Dhabi was searched.

A 17-year-old was also arrested after 1,248 Limovan sleeping tablets were searched.

“A prosecution file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions by the Irish Medicines Board,” a Revenue statement said.
