Customs officers at Cork and Shannon airports seized drugs with an estimated street value of over €300,000 in two separate operations yesterday.
A 38-year-old South African woman was arrested last night and is currently being questioned in Togher Garda station after customs officers at Cork airport found 14.25 kgs of herbal cannabis worth approximately €171,000 in her luggage.
The woman had arrived in Cork on a flight from Johannesburg via Amsterdam.
Earlier in the day, a 55-year-old South African man was arrested after customs officers at Shannon airport seized 11 kgs of herbal cannabis with a street value of €132,000 from a suitcase.
The man, who had arrived at Shannon airport after arriving on a flight from Johannesburg via Paris, was taken to Ennis Garda station.
