A hit-and-run driver attempted to ram a Garda car as he made his getaway, Dublin District Court heard. Wayne O'Reilly (22) of St Joseph's Road, Walkinstown, pleaded guilty to drink-driving, dangerous driving and hit-and-run on January 22nd last.
Garda David Connolly said O'Reilly crashed into another car at Greentrees Road, causing £5,500 worth of damage. He drove away along Orwell Road. On Dartry Road, he drove at a Garda car but did not hit it. He was arrested when he drove into a cul de sac.
Judge David Anderson heard that O'Reilly's judgment on the night was "seriously impaired by drink". His insurance had paid for the damage and he had apologised.
Judge Anderson fined him £100 for drinkdriving, £100 for dangerous driving and £50 for hit and run. He disqualified him for two years.
