Dragon Oil, the Dubai-based oil and gas producer operating in Turkmenistan, appointed Mohamed Al Ghurair as non-executive chairman after the resignation of executive chairman Hussain Sultan.

Sultan is leaving to focus on "other business interests" and will maintain an advisory role, the company said today in a statement.

Al Ghurair, who takes on his new role today, is also on the board of Saudi International Petrochemical Co, according to Dragon's Web site.

Dragon's Chief Executive Officer Abdul-Jaleel Al Khalifa was appointed an executive director on the board with effect from today, according to the statement.
