Two solicitors have been appointed to draftsman posts in the Attorney General's Office for the first time, according to the second report on the implementation of the review group's recommendations on the Office.
The progress report, considered by the Cabinet yesterday, says a former parliamentary drafts man is being employed on a contract basis to consolidate the Tax Acts. This will be the largest consolidation project in the history of the State.
Four additional legal assistants and three additional senior draftsmen have been appointed during the past 15 months. A head of administration and systems and services managers have also been appointed.
It has been decided that the parliamentary draftsman might attend the committee on the Government's legislative programme as the Attorney General's alternate, the report states.
