Freetown - International donors have earmarked $74 million (£58 million) in emergency assistance to Sierra Leone to help it recover from its eight-year civil war, state radio said yesterday. The President, Mr Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, announcing a $35 million grant from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), was quoted as calling the move "a valuable vote of confidence not only in government's proven commitment to prudent economic management but also the viability of the peace process". Mr Kabbah also disclosed a $30 million loan from the World Bank for economic rehabilitation and recovery as well as the release of $9 million in grants funds by the EU.
