Domino’s Pizza delivered a forecast-beating performance today after customers helped it achieve a surge in third-quarter sales.

Like-for-like sales rose 10.8 per cent in the 13 weeks to September 27th as marketing campaigns buoyed trading and left it on track to exceed profit expectations for the full year.

The pizza delivery firm, which has 583 stores in Ireland and the United Kingdom, opened seven new sites during the period and has created 800 jobs so far this year.

The US-based company, which aims to have more than 150 stores in Ireland and the United Kingdom, by the end of the year, achieved growth of 8.9 per cent in the third quarter, with a total sales increase of 30.9 per cent.

The group said in February that annual profits rose by 23 per cent, while it has achieved 8.3 per cent growth in like-for-like sales in the 39 weeks of the current financial year.

Chief executive Chris Moore said “tactical” marketing campaigns and greater firepower due to falling media prices underpinned trading.

He added: “We are particularly pleased with our strong performance during the period as the economic environment continues to be challenging."
