Talks are expected to resume today in the junior hospital doctors' dispute. There were no direct talks yesterday between the Irish Medical Organisation and the Health Service Employers' Agency, but an IMO representative, Mr Fintan Hourihan, said there had been telephone contact between the two sides and an exchange of documents on the phasing-in of a shorter working week.
There had also been discussion of the issue of a review of the 1997 agreement governing terms of employment. He expected direct talks to resume later today.
