March 22nd: First outbreak confirmed in the Republic.
April 19th: Trading restrictions on Co Louth lifted.
May 11th: Ban on fishing, hill- walking and pony-trekking lifted.
September: Following a new outbreak of the disease in Britain, the National Ploughing Championships in Co Laois cancelled.
