A man in his late 50s died at the Forty Foot bathing area in Sandycove, Co Dublin, yesterday. Gardai said he died either from a heart attack or drowning. He was seen to have got into difficulties after diving off rocks into the sea shortly after 5 p.m.
Paramedics attempted to revive the man after he was taken from the water. However, he died at the scene.
Two people in kayaks, reported to be in difficulty off the Mayo coast, were rescued yesterday.
