Derry video artist Mr Willie Doherty is among four artists nominated today for this year's Turner arts prize.
Mr Doherty (44) works with video installations that are rooted in his experiences of the sectarian divide in Northern Ireland.
In a recent work, Re-Run, he is seen running across a bridge filmed from both sides and projected on to a pair of screens which are facing each other.
Among the other nominees for the £20,000 prize is transvestite artist Grayson Perry, who depicts himself/herself involved in sex acts on the surface of his pottery vases, and brothers Jake and Dinos Chapman, famed for their gruesome depictions of war.
The other nominee is Anya Gallaccio (39), best known for her work with sculpture, many of which decay over time.
These have included works made of flowers, fruit and grass and she famously created a 34-tonne ice cube with salt at its centre that slowly melted.
Last year, she chopped down seven ancient oak trees and displayed them in a gallery at Tate Britain.
The winner will be announced on December 7th.
