ONE of the North's best known models has died while on honeymoon in Spain. Derry mother of two, Ms Bernie Logue (28), was killed instantly when she fell from her hotel balcony on the Spanish island holiday resort of Majorca. Ms Logue had flown to the island last Thursday, two days after she had married her boyfriend, Mr Pius Gray. Yesterday, a grief stricken Mr Gray was being treated for shock in a local hospital.
The couple, who had known each other for just four months, were staying in a hotel in Calas de Mallorca on the eastern side of the island. Yesterday, the flight company, Airtours, said it was carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
"At the moment, we can only confirm that Ms Logue has died while on holiday in Majorca. A full investigation is now under way in the resort and we are waiting on a full report from our staff there. In the meantime, we are doing everything we can to assist the relatives involved," the company said.
Yesterday, friends of Ms Logue said they were devastated. Ms Diana Stevenson, who owns a bridal salon in Derry, said Ms Logue had modelled for her for many years. "I just cannot believe it. Last week, she wore a beautiful blue dress at her wedding and now she is dead. It's a terrible, terrible tragedy for her family."
Photographer, Ms Andrea O'Hare, said Ms Logue had posed for many portraits for her. "Quite simply, she was one of the most stunning models I have ever seen. Her looks, her eyes, her hair, everything about her was incredibly beautiful and I cannot believe she is now dead," she said.
