Developer Michael O’Flynn’s action alleging that he was defamed by Fine Gael Minister of State Lucinda Creighton has been listed for hearing at the High Court early next month.
The proceedings by the Cork developer arise from a speech by Ms Creighton, titled Standards in Public Life and Accountability, to the MacGill Summer School in Co Donegal on July 20th, 2010. Mr O’Flynn, founder of O’Flynn Construction, alleges he was defamed in the speech and in a follow-up interview with Ms Creighton on RTÉ Radio’s News At One. He also alleges defamation against Ms Creighton in an Irish Times article on July 24th, 2010.
Ms Creighton denies defamation. The case has been listed for November 9th.
