A decision on whether to hold a second U2 concert at Slane Castle in August has been deferred until next week. Meath County Council was due to rule on the matter today.

The Council said it was reviewing submissions from a number of interested parties. A spokesman for the council denied the delay had been caused byobjections from four local residents.
He said it was an unprecedented step for the council to consider an application for a second concert date and there were a lot of considerations.
He said the council had received four submissions from local residents but only one objected in principle to the concert being held.
The others were requests to the council to follow certain measures, he said.
U2 are scheduled to play to some 80,000 fans at the venue on the 25th August. Tickets for the concert sold out in 45 minutes in March of this year, leaving thousands of fans disappointed. This prompted the band to apply for a second date.
