KATHLEEN WHISTON (75),Castlefield, Greystones, Co Wicklow, died on May 29th. Verdict at inquest on April 1st, 2008: death by hospital-acquired infection.

TERESA O'CONNOR (83),St Kevin's, Lower Road, Shankill, died on May 12th.

Verdict at inquest on April 1st, 2008: death by natural causes complicated by C difficile(C diff).

THOMAS FOLEY (92),Timmore, Newcastle, Co Wicklow, died on May 31st.

Verdict at inquest on March 4th, 2008: death by hospital-acquired infection.

CHRISTINE FISHER (101),Earlsbrook Nursing Home, Bray, Co Wicklow, died on June 25th. She had contracted C diff prior to her death.

DANIEL KING (71),Donore Nursing Home, Bray, Co Wicklow, died on July 16th, with C diff as a contributory cause.

Verdict at inquest on January 22nd, 2008: death by natural causes.

MARY O'CONNOR (88),Atlanta House Nursing Home, Bray died on July 12th. The cause of death was pseudomembranous colitis and dehydration with C diff infection.

Verdict at inquest on January 29th, 2008: death by hospital-acquired infection.

EILEEN SHAW (75),Newcourt Road, Bray, died February 26th.

Verdict at inquest on January 29th, 2008: multi-organ failure as a result of hospital acquired C diff pseudomembranous colitis and pneumonia as a consequence of immobilisation, with hip fracture and Parkinson's disease as a contributory cause.

SARAH LEONARD (72),Bayview Drive, Killiney, Co Dublin, died on February 7th from bronchiectasis with MRSA infection.

Verdict at inquest on October 16th, 2007: hospital-acquired infection.

MARY McDONALD (87),Berryfield Lane, Fassaroe, Bray, Co Wicklow, died on June 1st.

"Mrs McDonald was ill, but she might have gone home but for the Clostridium difficileinfection," the coroner noted.

BRIDIE O'BRIEN (86),Beechroad, Bray, Co Wicklow, died on March 17th.

JAMES BOLGER (86),Moynalvey, Summerhill, Co Meath, died of bronchial pneumonia on February 27th, 2007, having testing positive for MRSA the day before.
